Use Mappu in your assistant
Add Mappu to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants. While you plan, your assistant can find Mappu’s self-guided walks and free audio guides, and save the plan you make together to Mappu, where you open it and keep it.
Copies one sentence. Paste it into a chat: your assistant reads Mappu’s setup steps, then connects Mappu itself or tells you where to add it.
Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Cursor and other assistants that accept custom connectors.
Or add the connector yourself
Free. No Mappu account, API key or sign-in needed to connect.
What your assistant can do with Mappu
Find walks
Ask for a walk in a city or around a landmark. Your assistant gets Mappu’s self-guided walks, with the stops in order, the distance and the walking and listening time.
Look up audio guides
Ask about a landmark. Your assistant gets the Mappu audio guide page, its languages, how long it takes to listen and the walks that include it.
Save a plan to Mappu
When you’ve planned a trip together, your assistant can save it to Mappu. You get a link that is the only way to view the plan: open it, press Keep this plan and sign in, and Mappu puts it on a map you can edit.
How to add it
Menu names change from time to time and can differ by plan. Wherever you are asked, use the connector URL above and no authentication.
Claude
- 1Open Settings and choose Connectors. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector first in the organization settings.
- 2Choose Add custom connector, name it Mappu and paste the connector URL. Leave the advanced settings empty.
- 3In a chat, turn Mappu on from the + menu, under Connectors.
ChatGPT
Until Mappu is listed in ChatGPT’s app directory, add it in developer mode.
- 1Open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode. It depends on your plan, and on Business plans an admin turns it on.
- 2Choose Create app, name it Mappu, paste the connector URL and choose no authentication.
- 3In a chat, pick Mappu from the developer mode tools in the message box.
Gemini
Custom apps in Gemini are currently available only in the United States.
- 1In the Gemini web app, open Settings, then Connected apps.
- 2Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app and paste the connector URL.
Perplexity
Custom connectors may need a paid Perplexity plan.
- 1Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Custom connector, then Remote.
- 2Name it Mappu, paste the connector URL and choose no authentication.
- 3Turn Mappu on in a thread.
VS Code and Cursor
Add Mappu to the MCP configuration file, then start it from the editor’s MCP or agent panel.
VS Code: .vscode/mcp.json
{
"servers": {
"mappu": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://api.mappu.ai/mcp"
}
}
}Cursor: .cursor/mcp.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"mappu": {
"url": "https://api.mappu.ai/mcp"
}
}
}Other assistants
Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP can use the same URL. No API key is needed.
What Mappu receives and keeps
- You don’t need a Mappu account to connect. Mappu sees which assistant app sent a request, not who you are in it.
- Mappu receives the place or topic your assistant searches for, answers, and doesn’t store it.
- A saved plan holds what your assistant sends: the title, places, dates and notes. Until you keep it, it can be viewed only with the code in its link, and it expires after 7 days unless you keep it.
- Anyone with the plan link can open the draft, so keep it to yourself. Once you keep it, it belongs to your Mappu account and you can delete it like any trip.
- To prevent abuse, Mappu limits requests per network using a one-way hash of the address, never the address itself.
- The connector can’t buy anything, spend credits, see your location or open your saved trips.
What stays in the Mappu app
The walk itself, audio playback, creating or improving itineraries and buying credits happen in Mappu. Anything paid needs you to sign in and confirm it there; your assistant can’t do it for you.
Open MappuQuestions
- Does the Mappu connector cost anything?
- No. Connecting, finding walks and guides and saving a plan are free. Paid actions, like a Walk with Mappu session, happen in the Mappu app, where you confirm them.
- Do I need a Mappu account?
- Not to connect or search. To keep a plan your assistant saved, open the link and sign in or create a free account.
- Can my assistant see my Mappu trips?
- No. Account linking for assistants isn’t available yet, so the connector can only read Mappu’s public pages and save new drafts.
- Which languages does it support?
- English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. Walks are available in English, Italian and Spanish.
For developers
The connector is a public MCP server over Streamable HTTP (protocol versions 2026-07-28 and 2025-11-25) with read-only tools for walks, audio guides and public pages, and one tool that saves a plan as a draft.
