Question 1

What is Mappu?

Accepted Answer

It is the travel app that combines a smart travel planner with an interactive guide. Mappu does not just organize your itineraries in moments with verified suggestions, it literally travels with you: just put on your headphones and let it narrate the city you are visiting, step by step.

Question 2

How does Mappu work?

Accepted Answer

Mappu is your smart travel companion, helping you in three ways:

1. Plan your itinerary: Chat with Mappu telling it where you're going, when, your budget, and your passions. Mappu generates a detailed plan (with verified places and timing) that you can always edit or personalize.

2. Explore the map: Browse anywhere in the world and ask Mappu to tell you stories and curiosities about almost any place that catches your attention. You can go deeper by asking questions or expanding new guide sections.

3. Walk Mode: Your pocket guide when you're on site. Using GPS in the background, you can keep your phone in your pocket. Put on your headphones, start the feature, and wander freely while Mappu guides you through what surrounds you. It is not a fixed audio tour: ask anything, change the route or wander off, and Mappu follows you.

Question 3

What can Ask Mappu do?

Accepted Answer

Ask Mappu is Mappu's travel assistant. It sketches a trip day by day with a map, finds Mappu's audio guides and walks, answers questions about a guide or your trip, checks whether a day works on foot, and gives walking times, opening hours and sunset times. With an account it can also prepare changes to your trip that you apply with one tap. The day-by-day sketch is free, also without an account. There are limits: without an account, 5 planning messages and 2 questions per guide; with an account, 5 questions per guide, 10 web-checked answers per trip and an hourly limit on chat messages. Building a full itinerary or starting a walk always asks you to confirm and shows the credits first.

Question 4

Can I plan my trip with ChatGPT or Claude?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mappu works with ChatGPT and Claude through the free Mappu connector. Your assistant plans the trip with Mappu's own planning rules, can find Mappu's free walks and audio guides, and saves the plan to Mappu as a private link. Keep it and it's in My Trips. Connecting needs no Mappu account or API key.

Question 5

Is there a personalized guide?

Accepted Answer

Free guides tell the story; Walk Mode makes it yours. Every Mappu guide is the same trusted story, about 7 minutes in 5 short sections: free for the 400+ published places, 2 credits for any other place on the map. To make the visit your own, start Walk Mode: Mappu follows you as you wander, tells you about what is around you and answers your questions.

Question 6

Does Mappu remember my past trips?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely yes. Mappu takes your home location into account and remembers the places you have already explored. This helps it learn your preferences, avoid suggesting destinations you have already visited, and refine its recommendations to create more tailored and fresh itineraries over time.

Question 7

How accurate are the recommendations?

Accepted Answer

Places on the Mappu map come from OpenStreetMap. When Mappu builds an itinerary, it checks each stop against map data to confirm that the place exists and is in the right area, and it reviews claims such as travel times between cities. These checks catch many mistakes, but they cannot guarantee opening hours, temporary closures or ticket availability, so check the official website before you go.

Question 8

What is included in the free plan?

Accepted Answer

Exploring the map, chatting with Ask Mappu, editing your itinerary by hand, PDF export, sharing and the 400+ public audio guides are free. The guides play on the web and in the app with no account. Ask Mappu sketches your trip day by day for free, also without an account, and planning with ChatGPT or Claude through the Mappu connector is free too. Your first Walk Mode walk is free to try in the app, at the walk: 2 stories, with a free account. Without an account you get 5 planning messages, 2 questions per guide and one free standard guide; new accounts start with 2 credits. Generating a full itinerary, guides for other places, Walk Mode after the free stories and edits marked with the 🪄 icon use credits.

Question 9

How do paid features work?

Accepted Answer

Paid features use credits rather than monthly subscriptions. Buy credit packs and spend them as you prefer to generate itineraries, guides, or other Mappu features. Unused credits stay in your account and never expire.

Question 10

How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

Payments are handled securely by the platform you use: in-app purchase through the App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android and Stripe on the web.

Question 11

What is free and what is paid?

Accepted Answer

Free: the map, Ask Mappu's day-by-day trip sketches, editing your itinerary by hand, PDF export, sharing, the 400+ public guides on the web and in the app, the first 2 stories of your first Walk Mode walk, in the app at the walk (with a free account) and planning with ChatGPT or Claude through the Mappu connector. Without an account you also get one free standard guide, and new accounts get 2 starter credits. Paid with credits: generating a full itinerary (12 credits), a standard guide (2), a 2-hour Walk Mode session (50) and itinerary edits marked with the 🪄 icon.

Question 12

Do manual edits cost credits?

Accepted Answer
